Guideline for Spring Cleaning
The spring is the perfect time to focus on cleaning up the inside of your house. It may also be a bit daunting not knowing where to begin your home cleaning, but these guidelines can help you begin.
A quick strategy to clean up is by just reducing your clutter. Just possessing a fewer number of things to begin with helps. Even before you begin organizing, inspect and throw away things you no longer use. A perfect place to start off is probably in each closet. Examine all of the clothing and take out any items that do not fit or that have not been used. It is also a really good plan to go through your kids’ toys and remove any of the things that are no longer being played with. A very good rule of thumb is that if an article has not been used or worn within the last 2 years, it has to go. You can donate your unwanted things or sell them. Make sure to clear out your pantry and refrigerator and toss any expired products. As you eliminate clutter, it is also a good strategy to get rid of documents that you no longer need. Some documents need to be shredded if they contain personal information.
Curtains should be cleaned annually. Based on the fabric, curtains may need to be dry-cleaned. Other drapes, especially those made of cotton, can just be washed in the washing machine.
Another thing that is often neglected is the lighting fixtures. For each fixture or lamp, remove the shade or globe. The removable parts can be washed with dish soap and any other area can be wiped with a damp towel.
Typically, the dishwasher is forgotten about when spring cleaning. Despite the fact that it is used frequently, it too requires a yearly cleaning. To get your dishwasher sparkling clean, set a cup of vinegar in a dishwasher-safe bowl on the top shelf and run a single cycle. Next, sprinkle some baking soda in the bottom of the machine and run one more cycle. Vinegar and baking soda clean the dishwasher while also giving it a fresh scent.
Cleaning the freezer or refrigerator coils is another yearly job that really helps maintain your appliance in optimum condition. First and foremost, disconnect the refrigerator and pull it from the wall. To remove dust bunnies from the coils, use the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner, or use a rigid brush and vacuum or sweep up as you go.
Starting with this practical guideline will help you kick off spring cleaning and you will be well on your way to making your residence sparkle. These simple taks will not just make your place appear much better, but will also help your furnishings and appliances last even longer.
